A pitch event for six startups took place simultaneously in the offices of K&L Gates in downtown San Francisco and Incube in Islas Canarias on October 23th.

Maica Gil, Co-Organizer of the San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum and Co-Founder of the California Spain Chamber of Commerce based in San Francisco; Irene Yang, Intellectual Property Litigator at K&L Gates and Isabel Arcones, Co-Founder at OnPublico #CitizenJournalism and partner at Inveready, specialized in the mobile industry, internet and social media sectors were the panelists in San Francisco.

On the other hand, the panelists in Islas Canarias included: Jimena Delgado-Taramona, Managing Director at Organization for the Economic Promotion of Gran Canaria (SPEGC); Carlos Diaz Santamaria, Project Analyst at SPEGC and Fabio Roman Arbelo, Manager of Incube (SPEGC).The participants were part of different start-ups, such as Woman-In, 8Exchange, iFound, Eagle Ship Hardening, ComparaDentistas and Catch’o Price.

At the end of the conference, the entrepreneurs that were representing the start-ups received a lot of tools and important information to help them manage in a better way their business ideas.

The 2nd SFIWEF Summit took place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on May 26th and 27th, 2016. The aim of this event was to gather a group of women leaders and entrepreneurs from the United States, Latin America, Africa and Europe. The program included meetings, roundtables and workshops. The organizer of the conference was Maica Gil, she shared with all the participants her vision of the Forum and introduced them HEROIKKA, an online platform that connects women entrepreneurs all over the world to make their business ideas possible.

All of the speakers were talented women who shared their business projects, initiatives and personal stories. The topics of this event included investment for entrepreneurs, diversity and inclusion, gender equality, e-commerce, among others. The most attended conference was the entrepreneurship boot camp and code basics lesson. At the end of the event, the audience received an excellent advice and mentorship through different tools and connections for their projects.

 

This Summit promoted Gran Canaria as a great entrepreneurship hub, with the collaboration and networking in all the workshops and roundtables, the participants could notice the available opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs in the city.
