Women get funded

Dr Alicia Castillo Holley, SFIWEF contributor and CEO of the Wealthing(R) Institute is launching a training program for women on funding. She sees that there are many opportunities missed by lack of preparation. The program covers the wide range of funding mechanisms, from crowdfunding, family and friends, angels, venture capitalists, short or long term debt to many other ways of creatively ‘unfund’ a firm.

Gran Canaria Summit 2015 - San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum.

The US Embassy in Madrid collaborated with Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the Organization for the Economic Development of Gran Canaria (SPEGC), and the startups accelerator Incube, in a two-day summit of entrepreneurs in Las Palmas. Organized by the platform San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum, this forum was a unique event to bring together entrepreneurs from the USA and Spain, creating an ecosystem of empowerment that gave visibility to projects, businesses and start-ups directed to or launched by women. The event included keynote presentations by industry leaders, panel discussions, example pitch workshop, and hands-on breakout sessions designed to provide entrepreneurs with the tools to develop their ideas and find success in business. The Summit introduced educational programs aimed to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of women in technology, as well as change the ratio in STEM education and careers. #GCForum2015 @USembassyMadrid @SFIWEF

Virtual Meeting Between US and Spanish Entrepreneurs

On the occasion of International Women's Month in the U.S., the U.S. Embassy has been holding a series of meetings between exceptional women in their respective fields to foster dialogue and reflection on different topics of interest. Few days ago a group of female entrepreneurs visited us and met via videoconference with several American colleagues headed by Janelle Kellman (Founder of KitOrder.com) and the organizers of the San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum, Maica Gil and Claudia Quiroz. During the session they proposed the implementation of the Madrid Hub of the Women Entrepreneurs Forum that would be able to connect the female entrepreneurs of Spain with their counterparts in the Bay Area to promote bilateral relations between the two countries.
