Women get funded

Dr Alicia Castillo Holley, SFIWEF contributor and CEO of the Wealthing(R) Institute is launching a training program for women on funding. She sees that there are many opportunities missed by lack of preparation. The program covers the wide range of funding mechanisms, from crowdfunding, family and friends, angels, venture capitalists, short or long term debt to many other ways of creatively ‘unfund’ a firm.

WORKTECH15 West Coast is a forum for all those involved in the future of work and the workplace as well as real estate, technology and innovation. The event will take place at Mission Bay Conference Center on Wednesday 2nd December 2015.

Gran Canaria Summit 2015 - San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum.

The US Embassy in Madrid collaborated with Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the Organization for the Economic Development of Gran Canaria (SPEGC), and the startups accelerator Incube, in a two-day summit of entrepreneurs in Las Palmas. Organized by the platform San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum, this forum was a unique event to bring together entrepreneurs from the USA and Spain, creating an ecosystem of empowerment that gave visibility to projects, businesses and start-ups directed to or launched by women. The event included keynote presentations by industry leaders, panel discussions, example pitch workshop, and hands-on breakout sessions designed to provide entrepreneurs with the tools to develop their ideas and find success in business. The Summit introduced educational programs aimed to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of women in technology, as well as change the ratio in STEM education and careers. #GCForum2015 @USembassyMadrid @SFIWEF

La Embajada de EE.UU. en Madrid participó junto al Cabildo de Gran Canaria, la Sociedad de Promoción Económica de Gran Canaria y la aceleradora Incube, en unas jornadas en Las Palmas organizadas por la plataforma San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum. Durante dos días, emprendedores y emprendedoras de la isla, pudieron conocer a empresarias líderes de San Francisco, y participar en mesas redondas y talleres donde se dio visibilidad a proyectos y empresas dirigidas o iniciadas por mujeres procedentes de cualquier industria.  La conferencia expuso modelos educativos para motivar a niñas y estudiantes universitarias a escoger carreras de ingeniería, estudios de programación y carreras tecnológicas. #GCForum2015 @USembassyMadrid @SFIWEF

Virtual Meeting Between US and Spanish Entrepreneurs

On the occasion of International Women's Month in the U.S., the U.S. Embassy has been holding a series of meetings between exceptional women in their respective fields to foster dialogue and reflection on different topics of interest. Few days ago a group of female entrepreneurs visited us and met via videoconference with several American colleagues headed by Janelle Kellman (Founder of and the organizers of the San Francisco International Women Entrepreneurs Forum, Maica Gil and Claudia Quiroz. During the session they proposed the implementation of the Madrid Hub of the Women Entrepreneurs Forum that would be able to connect the female entrepreneurs of Spain with their counterparts in the Bay Area to promote bilateral relations between the two countries.

Con motivo del Mes Internacional de la Mujer en EE.UU, la Embajada ha venido celebrando una serie de encuentros entre mujeres relevantes en distintos campos para fomentar el diálogo y la reflexión sobre diferentes temas de interés. Hace unos días, nos visitaron un grupo de mujeres emprendedoras, que se reunieron vía videoconferencia con varias colegas estadounidenses encabezadas por Janelle Kellman (Fundadora de,  y las organizadoras del Foro Internacional de Mujeres Emprendedoras en San Francisco, Maica Gil y Claudia Quiroz. Durante la reunión, se propuso la puesta en marcha del Madrid Hub de Mujeres Emprendedoras que las conectará con sus homólogas en el Área de la Bahía de California para el fomento de las relaciones bilaterales entre ambos países.
